Learn More About the Sacraments at The Church of Holy Apostles
The Sacraments are sacred signs of God’s grace and an essential part of our Catholic faith. At The Church of Holy Apostles, we are honored to walk with you on your faith journey as you encounter Christ through the Sacraments.
The Seven Sacraments
Baptism
Baptism is the first step in becoming a member of the Catholic Church. Through water and the Holy Spirit, we are cleansed of sin and welcomed into God’s family. Learn how to schedule a Baptism for your child or begin your own journey to Baptism.
Reconciliation (Confession)
Through the Sacrament of Reconciliation, we experience God’s boundless mercy and forgiveness. Regular confession helps us grow spiritually and strengthen our relationship with Christ.
Holy Communion (Eucharist)
The Eucharist is the source and summit of our faith. In receiving the Body and Blood of Christ, we are united with Jesus and the Church. Children and adults preparing for First Communion receive guidance and formation through our faith programs.
Confirmation
Confirmation completes the grace of Baptism and strengthens us with the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Youth and adults seeking Confirmation can participate in formation classes to deepen their faith and commitment to the Church.
Marriage
The Sacrament of Marriage unites a couple in a lifelong covenant of love and faithfulness. We offer marriage preparation to help engaged couples build a Christ-centered relationship.
Anointing of the Sick
In times of illness or facing serious health challenges, the Anointing of the Sick offers spiritual healing, strength, and God’s grace. This sacrament is available upon request for those in need.
Holy Orders
The Sacrament of Holy Orders is a call to serve God’s people as a deacon, priest, or bishop. To learn more about vocations, visit the Diocese of Rockford’s website for additional information.

For Adults Seeking the Sacraments
OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation for Adults)
Are you an adult who has not yet received one or more Sacraments? The Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) is a welcoming process for those who wish to learn more about the Catholic faith and, if they choose, receive the Sacraments. Whether you are new to Catholicism, returning to the Church, or seeking to complete your initiation, we invite you to explore OCIA with us.
